Bleak Faith: Forsaken puts the Dark Back in Soulslike
Stunning Nightmare Creatures Haunt a Tattered World
Lone knights staring up at impossible monsters is one of the most enticing images in storytelling, one that has been around for hundreds of years. Capturing a sense of scale and terror better than most games that strive to stand out in this genre, Bleak Faith: Forsaken has an incredible amount of potential that will soon be available for players on Steam to experience on March 10th. If this game plays even close to what it is suggesting on its Steam page, this one might be special.
Look, I have seen thousands of video game trailers in my days as a gamer and as a media professional in this industry. The first time I saw the trailer for Bleak Faith: Forsaken, I was speechless.
Rain-drenched castle towns, a massive spindly centipede thing, a 40K Space Marine-looking soldier that looks like he could eat the entire Sadaukar army from Dune for breakfast, hundreds of robots lined in a row like a scene out of The Matrix, all wrapped in a killer art direction that grabs one by the throat and demands the viewer look a little closer, only to lose themselves in the madness. There are so many scenes in this trailer that could be hung up on a wall as an art piece and this style of marketing a game fits perfectly for Bleak Faith.
According to the trailer, only three developers crafted this macabre world of dark fantasy with a touch of science fiction horror. It is a world that is terrifying and deeply inviting with its abundance of mystery and awe-inspiring composition. Seeing this game’s presentation and creature design just begs one to don their best armor and see what lies in wait.
Truly, with Bleak Faith, the devil is in the details.
From reading the game’s description on Steam, the game’s world is called the Omnistructure, which is perpetually expanding to create a civilization driven to the brink of destruction. The game is described as a Soulslike with a hardcore combat system and open-world exploration. Players who have braved Dark Souls, Elden Ring, or any number of games that echo that approach to design should feel right at home with Bleak Faith.
Bleak Faith: Forsaken launches on Steam on March 10th.
