Acclaimed Hollow Knight gets Physical Edition this Month
Hollow Knight is a game that has won over players since its launch back in February 2017 on PC. It later topped the daily charts on Nintendo Switch and has since appeared on the Xbox One and PS4. With multiple free updates released and an upcoming sequel in Hollow Knight: Silksong, the next milestone for Team Cherry’s hit title is a physical release and a jam-packed Collector’s Edition.
Not only is Hollow Knight getting printed for Switch, PS4, and PC (DRM Free), but the folks at Fangamer have put together a Definitive Collector’s Edition that truly captures the elegance of Hollow Knight. The package retails for $64 USD for the PC or PS4 edition, while the Switch version retails at $69 USD; standard editions of the game retail for $29 USD for PC or PS4 or $34 for the Switch. Standard editions come with a full manual and a foldout map. It also looks like major retailers will at least be getting the standard copies, as there are listings on Best Buy and Gamestop.
Of course, we have no way of knowing what the quality of each item will be without getting our hands on it but let’s check out what comes in the Collector’s Edition.
A metal brooch with a display stand, wall hook, and dual-pronged fastener
14-page Quirrel comic book
Gift-box-style case with gold-foil filigree and a clear printed sleeve
Gold-foil art print set by Ari Gibson
Physical copy of the game on your choice of platform including all DLC: Hidden Dreams, The Grimm Troupe, Lifeblood, and Godmaster.
Nintendo Switch copies of the Collector’s Edition include a bonus cleaning cloth
The standout item is the brooch, which captures the image of the titular Hollow Knight character. It will also be interesting to see what sort of story the comic book offers as Hollow Knight is a game that shows its story through visuals, atmosphere, and sound design and not dialogue. It’s a truly wonderful game that is definitely worth picking up. It’s also crazy to think about the breadth of content available and that has been added over time, all for the low price of $14.99 for a digital copy and it can often be found cheaper during sales.
Needless to say, we are fans of Hollow Knight here at Forever Classic Games. We cannot wait for the sequel Hollow Knight: Silksong. Team Cherry is a development group worth keeping an eye on.
