Melty Blood Type Lumina’s First DLC Drops Two New Characters for Free

Keeping the community alive through free updates is something that most FPS games started doing in the wake of separating players through paid updates. In fighting games, it is common to have to pay for extra characters but that’s not the case, at least as of this writing, for increasing the roster in MELTY BLOOD: TYPE LUMINA, a fighting game that’s always been community-driven to the point of almost a cult-like dedication. Two new fighters and various changes have been added for the majority of players.

Launching as a free update for most versions of Melty Blood: Type Lumina both Aoko Aozaki and Dead Apostle Noel are available now. In addition, new story content and stages will be added. Round announcement packs featuring these two new characters can be purchased for $2.99 USD each. Nintendo Switch players in NA, CA, SA, EU, and OC regions will get the update on January 17th.

Currently, much of my experience with Melty Blood: Type Lumina comes from going to my locals at the Black Ice eSports venue for tournaments and friendly matches organized by Run the Mix. I find it to be one of the more interesting anime fighting games available and I really like the shield options in particular. Matches are flashy and exciting and the community has been begging for a mainstream title for years now. Especially with the addition of Saber of Fate/Stay Night as a guest character in the initial release, Type Lumina feels like a big deal for fans of the genre.

Melty Blood: Type Lumina is available on Steam, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

We’ll include the patch notes shared with us through a press release for anyone curious.
