Surge 2 Story Expands with Kraken Expansion DLC

The Surge 2 from Deck13 (published by Focus Home Interactive), which saw quite a bit of discussion and praise following demos and release, has received a new expansion that adds a new area to explore, more story, as well as additional weapons, implants, and armors.  The “Kraken Expansion” DLC is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Alongside this expansion, Focus Home Interactive released The Surge 2 Premium Edition on the same platforms which includes: base game, Kraken Expansion, Future Shock Weapon Pack, Public Enemy Weapon Pack, JCPD Gear Pack, URBN Gear Pack, and the Jericho’s Legacy Gear Pack.

Via a recent press release, the Kraken Expansion DLC takes place on the VBS Krakow which is a huge decommissioned aircraft carrier that has been fitted with amenities specifically for the upper class. Upon this vessel, players will go toe-to-toe with deranged security systems, a new boss, and robotic pirates of all things.

As far as my personal experience goes, I haven’t had the chance to check out either titles in The Surge series but I’ve learned from Souls-like creators and podcasters about them at length. For those of us that just cannot get enough out of the core Souls-like titles, The Surge seems to offer enough differences to be interesting. I still think that the opening of the first Surge was striking and horrifying in a way that I can’t quite shake from my mind. From what I’ve gathered, The Surge 2 refined and expanded what worked in the first game to make it a worthwhile adventure. Over at OpenCritic, The Surge 2 showed a “Strong” rating and 68% of critics recommended giving it a go.

When it comes to this new expansion, it’s hard to ignore robot pirates.
