Project Warlock II hits Early Access in June

PC

One of the more interesting releases in the Boomer Shooter genre was the quaint Project Warlock, a DOOM-like game that offered upgradable weapons and abilities. Revealed in a new trailer released during the MIX 10th Anniversary Online Showcase, the anticipated Project Warlock II will be hitting early access on Steam and GOG in June 2022, allowing players to enjoy the game’s first chapter of three planned. A demo is available now.

The first Project Warlock was a straightforward shooter but those upgradeable elements had me playing well beyond my expected playtime. The classic gameplay looks to have expanded, at least looking at the latest trailer, boasting levels 10 times larger than the first game’s areas. New gameplay elements were revealed and each chapter will feature a new playable character. The first will be Palmer who must protect his castle from a horde of demons.

According to a new press release, developers Buckshot Software are planning a year’s worth of early access, honing in the game through player feedback. The game will be published by Retrovibe, who has a slew of retro-inspired games on their website. More information about Project Warlock II is available on the game’s Steam listing or the GOG page.
